Pair of Art Nouveau candlesticks, blown glass, 1930s–1950s

$
Two tall forms, simple and fluid—like an elongated silhouette of light.
Art Nouveau candlesticks, crafted by hand.
The glass is heavy, with a barely perceptible green tint. The surface is smooth, bearing the character of handmade work. Gentle transitions of form, thickening towards the base—all indicate that this is not a press-moulded piece, but an individually blown creation.

Such candlesticks could have graced the studio of a mid-20th-century architect—or an interior designed according to Jean-Michel Frank's blueprints, where every object breathed air and equilibrium.

Historical Context:
The transition from Art Deco to Modernism in glassmaking was marked by a new approach to form. Excessive ornamentation gave way to elongation, restraint, and material honesty. This trend was particularly strong in workshops in Belgium and the Netherlands—places where the traditions of blown glass had remained unbroken for centuries.

How to use
• Symmetrically — on either side of a table or console
• Or intentionally asymmetrically — one on the mantelpiece, the second in the bathroom
  • Can be used without candles — as two sculptures of ethereal columns

We strive to describe the condition of each lot as accurately as possible, and our photographs are taken in good light and have not been retouched, so you can examine the item as thoroughly as possible.

Hronika: vintage collection features only those items that have retained their aesthetic appeal and can become a beautiful detail in any space. Nevertheless, please note that even perfect items may bear traces of time.

Most vintage items have been previously used. Therefore, it is virtually impossible to determine if an item has been used after purchase—even with expert examination. We ask that you consider this when placing an order: returns for vintage items are not provided.

Before purchasing, you will have the opportunity to carefully inspect the item—either at the pick-up point or upon delivery by courier. If something is not suitable, you can decline the purchase on the spot. In this case, the buyer pays for the return shipping.
