Teapot with Warming Stand, Shaw & Fisher, England, Late 19th Century

VNTG00292
$441
$
An antique teapot by the English manufacturer Shaw & Fisher, presented on its original warming stand. Such pieces were integral to English tea culture in the late 19th century, used to maintain the beverage's temperature during extended tea ceremonies. A small candle or spirit burner was placed inside the stand, keeping the tea hot without the need for re-boiling.

The design marries practical function with the characteristic decorativeness of the Victorian era.
Today, this teapot can still be used for its original purpose, for serving tea and other hot beverages.

About Shaw & Fisher
Shaw & Fisher was a Sheffield workshop active in the second half of the 19th century, specializing in serving pieces made from "britannia metal" — a high-quality pewter alloy widely used in 19th-century England as a practical and durable alternative to silver and silver plating.

The company was located in Sheffield, one of the most important centers of British metal and cutlery production. Shaw & Fisher's products included teapots, coffee pots, serving dishes, and other household items, crafted in the decorative style characteristic of the Victorian era.

The company ceased to exist in 1894, which is why Shaw & Fisher items are significantly rarer today than products from many later Sheffield manufacturers. Their tea sets are considered one of the most characteristic categories of their assortment.

PLEASE NOTE

Each item in our vintage collection carries its own history, which may leave traces of its past life.
We strive to describe the condition of each lot as accurately as possible, and our photographs are taken in good light and are unretouched, allowing you to examine the item in detail.

Hronika: vintage collection features only those pieces that have retained their aesthetic appeal and can become a beautiful accent in any space. Nevertheless, please note that even perfect items may show signs of age.

If specific characteristics of an item were noted in the product description, these are not considered defects or flaws.

Most vintage items have been previously used. Therefore, it is almost impossible to determine if an item has been used after purchase — even with expert examination. We ask you to consider this when placing an order: returns for vintage items are not provided.

Before purchasing, you will have the opportunity to carefully inspect the item — at the pickup point or upon courier delivery. If something is not suitable, you can refuse the purchase on the spot. In this case, the buyer pays for the return shipping.
If you accept the parcel, it means that the item has captured your heart, and you have decided to keep it.
