Trio of ceramic candlesticks with gradient glaze

VNTG00098
9800,00
$
A trio of candlesticks, united by a common principle: simple architectural form, refined proportions, and delicate glaze work.
The top is a strict cylinder, the base a wide foundation with three steps. This trio seems destined for a wooden shelf or a mantelpiece, where each object finds its place, yet together they function as an ensemble.

Stylistic Note:
Such forms and techniques are frequently found in utilitarian ceramics of the 1970s–1980s, particularly in France and Germany, within the framework of late functionalism and artisanal modernism. A distinctive feature is the combination of simple volumes with rich, “earthy” glazes and an affinity for natural colour transitions.

Glaze and Technique:
The body of each candlestick is covered with a gradient-effect glaze, transitioning from olive-green to caramel. This effect is achieved through a double-dipping or pouring method — the glaze flowed naturally, creating a lively, somewhat unpredictable boundary.
The precise interplay of colour and form is especially important here: the stepped base accentuates the geometry, while the smooth sheen enhances the depth of colour.

One can imagine them in a ceramic artist’s studio somewhere in the south of France. On a wooden shelf beside bunches of lavender, unfired blanks, and half a baguette forgotten under a palette knife.

PLEASE NOTE

Each item in our vintage collection carries its own history, which may leave traces of its past life.
We strive to describe the condition of each lot as accurately as possible, and our photographs are taken in good light and are unretouched, allowing you to examine the item in detail.

Hronika: vintage collection features only those pieces that have retained their aesthetic appeal and can become a beautiful accent in any space. Nevertheless, please note that even perfect items may show signs of age.

If specific characteristics of an item were noted in the product description, these are not considered defects or flaws.

Most vintage items have been previously used. Therefore, it is almost impossible to determine if an item has been used after purchase — even with expert examination. We ask you to consider this when placing an order: returns for vintage items are not provided.

Before purchasing, you will have the opportunity to carefully inspect the item — at the pickup point or upon courier delivery. If something is not suitable, you can refuse the purchase on the spot. In this case, the buyer pays for the return shipping.
If you accept the parcel, it means that the item has captured your heart, and you have decided to keep it.
